Support Homes First by hosting your own dinner party on November 6th, 2021! You set the fundraising goal, menu and guest list, in addition to enjoying the event's virtual component, featuring entertainment from Juno award winner Sean Jones.

FUNDRAISE ON YOUR OWN TERMS

Our Host Your Own option for Homes for Dinner provides a greater opportunity for everyone support Homes First Society in serving our city’s most vulnerable populations. Help raise funds for Homes on your own terms: host a dinner in your own home, invite your loved ones and share a meal to inspire others to invest in ending Toronto’s cycle of chronic homelessness. Our clients, residents, and city need you.

What do I need to do before the event?

Simply sign up, invite your guests to dinner on November 6th, and ask them to make a donation directly to us! Starting at 6pm, log in to our virtual party hosted by Breakfast Television and KiSS 92.5 superstar Devo Brown to learn more about how we're helping Toronto's homeless community and enjoy some entertainment by Juno award winner Sean Jones! We guarantee it will be a night to remember.

How much money am I/my guests expected to raise for Homes First?

You decide! Once you set a fundraising goal, your friends and family can make a direct donation by visiting our website (www.homesfirst.on.ca) and selecting "Donate" from our menu, or you can share the Donate Now link on this page. Choose Homes for Dinner 2021 as the designation, pop in the host's name, and you're done!

How many guests do I need to invite?

We leave it up to every single one of our hosts to decide who they'd like to invite within Covid restrictions (the current capacity limit is 25 people indoors).

Will I get a charitable tax receipt?

Any donation over $20 is eligible for a charitable tax receipt, so long as the donor provides their full name and mailing address. As a host, your dinner expenses are also eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Please note: Expenses only include food ; up to a maximum of $75 per guest; alcohol excluded. Can I still join the virtual fundraiser if I'm unable to host a dinner?

Absolutely- we encourage everyone to join, even if you're a bubble of one! To participate in our virtual event on Saturday, November 6th, click on our Donate Now page, select Homes for Dinner as the designation and make a minimum donation of $25. Instead of your host's name, please write "Virtual only" in the box and we will send you a link to join our party starting at 6pm!
